Rural Plumbing and Heating was incorporated in 1947 by W.B. and Mildred Nivison.

The Nivisons began their business with an understanding of their customers needs. In 1947, many homes in rural North Carolina were without modern conveniences. Few homes in these areas had heat except fireplaces and many were without indoor plumbing and bathroom facilities. Rural Plumbing and Heating began servicing these communities in the spring of 1947. Based in the basement of the Nivison’s home, Rural Plumbing and Heating began business with four trucks. The Nivison’s home was near the North Carolina coast and they worked throughout Eastern North Carolina.

In the fall of 1947, the Nivisons moved the corporate offices and opened a warehouse in Raleigh, NC. In 1962, Rural Plumbing and Heating moved into their current offices at 701 E Six Forks Road, near the downtown of Raleigh. Currently operating with over 100 service vehicles supported by a 20,000 square foot warehouse, the Nivison’s “basement” business continues to grow.

The Nivisons and Rural Plumbing and Heating Inc., have always strived to provide quality service to their customers.  Rural Plumbing and Heating Inc. continues the Nivison’s vision with the installation of modern plumbing, heating and air conditioning in new homes and commercial buildings. Rural Plumbing and Heating Inc. also services the repair of existing homes throughout the Triangle Area and the surrounding communities.
